NEWS  From Your PRESIDENT

Hi, I am Maggie Morgan your new President.    The biggest thing you need to know about me is I have a deep passion and love for horses and I LOVE to ride!!!   Although I don’t own a gaited horse, I have ridden several and love them.   I do however own a 10 year old American Paint horse named Joey that thinks he is gaited!   I also own a  6 year old Quarter Horse Mare named Gracie.       I would love to have your input/ideas on the direction you would like our club to go.  Kristi Thompson, our Vice President and I met and discussed some of the things we hope to do this year.
Some of the things in the works are:
Club team penning/sorting.
Basics of Dressage-Have you ever wondered about Dressage?
An Endurance ride in June.
Trail Obstacles- Building both you and your horses’ confidence with obstacles both in the arena and on the trail.
Various Clinics from foundation to improving your feel.
Hairy Schooling Show.
AND last but not least, trail riding galore!!!

When it's cold and snowy outside, it's a good time to be inside learning from the experts. EIGHA will be holding a winter series of clinics with Laurie and Bryce Galbraith at Rod and Kristi Thompson's arena.
The first clinic will start Jan. 21st at 11:00 am.  There will be limited rider spots available so reserve your spot now.  These clinics will be great for people wanting to learn more and become more confident with their horse on and off the trail or a super way to work with your horse thru the winter to become a more confident partner on the trail this summer.  You must be a member to attend and all club members are welcome to audit for free.
The first session on January 21st  and 28th will be - "Am I the Leader My Horse Needs?"
The next 3 sessions will include improving gait
   Finding Relaxation by Eliminating Brace,
   Balancing your Whoa and Go,
   It's all in the Feet,
These are horsemanship clinics that can benefit any rider - whether you want a safer trail mount or are interested in developing your horse to be a show horse.
We address many confidence issues for both horse and handlers/riders. We will talk about how a horse thinks, when to do more and when to do less and  safe riding in groups.
Riders will improve their feel, timing and balance to improve communication with their horse.
We will help riders to develop or refine specific tasks  i.e.  improve stops, transitions, create a light rein, stand still for saddling, mounting, and any others issues that may come up.
There will be limited groundwork but we will adjust each lesson according to riders needs.
Although each clinic can stand alone; we will set the clinics up so they will be progressive through the winter.  It is preferable for each rider to participate in every clinic to get the most benefit.
We will limit it to the first six people.  The cost will be $50 for at least 3 hrs.  Starting at 11am.  Private lessons are also available.
For more information or to reserve your spot contact Kristi at modit@srv.net 754-4493 or Laurie at laurienbelle@hotmail.com or 569-5789. See the paragraphs below for more info on Bryce and Laurie.

The first horse Bryce ever started was a 2 year old thoroughbred stud when he was just 10 years old.  Since then he has accrued  over 20 years professional experience with all types of horses  including gaited breeds.  His specialty is starting colts, always having the goal to create a positive experience in every interaction he has with a horse. He says the best strategy to the success of a horse is to create a solid confident foundation while it is young. He enjoys seeing the changes that can happen with older or troubled horses when his approach instills confidence in the horse.  Bryce is forever in pursuit of learning a better way to be with horses, having the horse be his best instructor.  And has developed his style from direct instruction by great horsemen such as Ray Hunt, Martin Black, Lee Smith and Ken McNab.

Laurie has enjoyed horses all her life, having a father that encouraged her to be respectful of animals instilled in her the value of considering things from the animal’s point of view.  She first started riding as a toddler being led around by older siblings on the family pony. She saved up babysitting money as a teenager and purchased her very own horse, a yearling grade filly, which she started on her own. She was an avid student of  Parelli Natural Horsemanship, achieving Level 3 and was an endorsed instructor for seven years.  Laurie, like Bryce makes a goal to constantly improve her skills as a horsewoman and instructor. She is passionate about helping students to improve their confidence with horses.  She enjoys teaching methodically and shares her experiences and insights with all her students.

As a couple Laurie and Bryce are an informative and inspirational team.  They offer personalized horse training services and horsemanship clinics or private lessons for you and your horse. Their styles blend beautifully to create an educational experience that will empower anyone to reach their goals as a horseman.
